Additional Info:
The rice husk briquette fuel option is found to be the most environment friendly in the study area compared to wood fuel, natural gas and kerosene.

Our rice husk briquettes have developed over time with two distinct types: those with holes through the centre, and those which are solid. Both types are classified as briquettes but are formed using different techniques. A solid briquette is manufactured using a piston press which sandwiches layers of rice husks together and ones with a hole are produced using a screw press. The hole is simply a by product of the screw thread passing through the centre however it also increases the surface area of the log and aids efficient combustion.

Our briquettes are environmentally friendly, renewable source of energy. Its most important advantage is the zero balance of the emission of carbon dioxide (C02), which is released during the combustion of the biomass, as well as lower emission of sulphur dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), and carbon monoxide (CO), compared to fossil fuels. For example, of the combustion 1 GJ of diesel oil results in the emission of 1.255 kg nitrogen oxides, 0,004 kg nitrous oxide (N2O) and as much as 73,84 kg carbon dioxide. The combustion of the same amount of residues our briquette results only in the emission of 0,202 kg nitrogen oxides, whereas the rate of emission of nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide is equal to zero. Using our briquette for heating is becoming cost effective - the prices of our briquette are competitive on the fuel market. The use of our briquette enables to finally develop agricultural wastelands and to use waste efficiently.

The briquette calorific value range from 14.2 to 17.5 MJ/kg and it is equivalent to “B” grade coal in terms of calorific value. It burns slowly with less smoke than wood fuel.
Therefore, there is a potential to replace the wood fuel with this biomass fuel from wastes.
