Keruing timber
Keruing is a hardwood native to South East Asia and used in a wide variety of internal
and external applications. Keruing timber is low maintenance, hardwearing and ideal for
outdoor furniture use. The wood is strong and classified as durable, making it useful for
construction purposes. Other common uses include internal flooring, protected framing
and boards, internal joinery and mouldings, lining, paneling and framework. It is often
used as a cheaper alternative to oak for heavy construction, decking, vehicle building
and sleepers, and it is also in plywood.
Teak timber
Teak is a yellowish brown timber with good grain and texture. Its wood has a leather-
like smell when it is freshly milled. The annual ring is easily recognized, the latewood
has smaller and sparser xylems than the earlywood. It has average weight with 0.7
density, 32 kg / cm² tensile force across the grain and 471 kg / cm² compression along
the grain and 1,253 kg / cm buckling
Teak is precious wood and has more characteristic than other timbers used widely in
the furniture field. Teak timber is particularly valued for its durability and water
resistance, and is used for boat building, exterior construction, veneer, furniture,
carving, turnings, and other small wood projects. In addition, the Teak wood is flexible,
easy to bend, high tensile strength often used to produce tables, chairs and cabinets.
