King Coconut (Cocos nucifera var. aurantiaca) is a particular variety of
coconut
that is
indigenous to the tropical island of Sri Lanka; an island located in the
Indian
Ocean, which incidentally was rated the number one travel destination on
Lonely
Planet and is famous for Ceylon tea.
On the island, king coconut trees grow freely and in abundance, with little
to no
human intervention. King coconut water is loved by Sri Lankans for its
taste and
ability to replenish the body. It naturally contains electrolyte levels close to
that of
blood plasma and is the premium source of natural dehydration yet to be
discovered. It is aptly named the ‘king’ of all coconuts.
Studies show that a single serving of king coconut water contains more
potassium
than a banana and more calcium and magnesium than an orange.
