Octyl acetate is an ester of acetic acid and octanol. Octyl acetate is the principal
constituent of high quality frankincense (60% min). It has a unique orangish
jasmine-like scent and is primarily used as a fragrance for soap, massage oils, air
fresheners, gels, etc. Industrially, it is used as a specialty solvent resins, waxes, oils,
and nitrocellulose.
