work where precise dimensions and finished edges are not critical. It is often more
economical than edged
lumber because it requires less processing.

Unedged lumber is valued for its cost-effectiveness, availability, and versatility in industrial
applications. Before
use in fine woodworking or visible structures, it may be further processed (planed or
edged) to achieve smoother
surfaces and uniform dimensions.
