Wood shavings are thin, curly, or flat strips of wood produced during planing, shaping, or
machining of timber in
woodworking and sawmill operations. They are larger and coarser than sawdust and are
often generated when
wood is processed using hand planes, planers, or milling machines.

Wood shavings are widely used in applications such as animal bedding, biomass fuel
production, particle board
manufacturing, packaging material, and composting. They are especially valued in livestock
and poultry farming
due to their softness, absorbency, and comfort for animals.

Wood shavings are also an important raw material in sustainable industries, where they are
recycled into energy
products like wood pellets and briquets or used in engineered wood production. They help
reduce waste and
contribute to efficient utilization of timber resources.
